Hi, I'm Shamara D. Gibson.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Supervisor, and Qualified Expert in Child Welfare. I started out full force leaving high school with 33 credits towards my Associates degree.
At the tender age of 19, I embarked on my college experience starting as a junior at Florida State University. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work from Florida State University in the summer of 2009.
In Fall of 2009, I began to pursue my Master’s degree, while I worked as an Admissions/Discharge Coordinator for an inpatient psychiatric hospital. There, I provided mental health services to both adults and children working closely with the psychiatrist and treatment team.
Prior to graduating with my Masters degree, I obtained employment as Family Care Counselor providing dependency and permanency services to children and their families. In 2011, I graduated with both a Masters of Clinical Social Work and a Certificate in Child Welfare Practice from Florida State University. I obtained my certification as Child Welfare Case Manager in 2012.
Eager to expand my career as a clinician, I relocated to Jacksonville, FL to begin working as a Trauma Therapist in 2013. My passion for helping victims of trauma led me to become a Sexual Abuse Therapist for a specialized treatment program in 2015 providing individual and family counseling to sexual abuse victims and their families.
Driven to make impact on a larger scale, I began my work as a Program Manager for a Non-Profit organization in 2016 where I developed a pilot outreach program that continues to provide mental health services to high risk girls throughout Duval County. With experience and approach, I’m able to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be.
